RE: Abscence

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 14, 2007, 7:43 AM
No, I haven't been caught up in any DA drama or anything like that, I just couldn't get the submission process to work for me, and then the messages and deviations piled up (I have over 1,000 deviations in my inbox...), and I've been working a lot with not much chance to doodle.

DA's setup continues to be a pain. I went to delete just part of the previous journal entry, and the whole thing dissappeared. So, no links to my comission info, etc. Sorry. You'll have to find the journal menu for yourself.

Another meme!

Tagged by , the lil' devil.

Rules: The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "6 Weird Habits/Things About Yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a journal about their 6 Weird Habits/Things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names.

1. I have eaten choloate-covered crickets. In fact, I've enjoyed them. Yes, it freaks me out, too.

2. I'm terrified of black widows, but I'll cuddle tarantulas. I enjoy feeding both.

3. I am left-handed. (Not that wierd, but some people seem to think it is.)

4. My biggest inspirations to draw come from being in life science classes, regardless of wheather the drawing has anything to do with the class.

5. My sketchbook is also my notebook, phonebook, and brain in general.

6. Businesses with signs that include 2, 4, U, or other abbreviations, or quotes around words to place emphasis on them ("Please!" Wipe your feet!) make me hurt a little inside. Or want to strangle someone.

As far as tagging anyone... er, if you'd like to do the meme, knock yourself out. :)

Policies

:bulletblue:Fan Art:bulletblue:
If you have a favorite character from my gallery and would like to draw them, go ahead! But please follow these guidelines:

1. Be respectful. Please don't draw any of my characters in comprimising positions without first discussing it with me, and don't use my characters to attack or insult other people.

2. Give credit. All you have to do is add "This character is copyrighted to :icon dillo:" at the end of the artist's comments area, without the space between "icon" and "dillo". If you'd like to put a credit on the image as well, that's fine.

3. File properly. Regardless of medium the art is done in or what genre it fits into, art of characters or concepts that do not belong to you should be uploaded to the "fan art" section.

4. Let me know! Please send a NOTE (I read these on a regular basis, but not comments on the main page) letting me know that you have created art with my characters in it, and provide a link. I'd love to see your work, and post it in my Fan/Gift Art page!

5. Know your fan art. Because of copyrighting issues, gift art of my fan characters (from Parasite Eve and etc.) will not be listed on the fan art page. I'd still like to know if you draw them, but they're kind of in copyright limbo land, and I'm never sure what to do with them.

:bulletblue:Favorites:bulletblue:
1. General. I appreciate +favs, although I appreciate well-thought-out comments much more. If you +fav something in my gallery, I will drop you a thank you note* on your main page, and probably take a glance around your gallery.

2. Mutual favs. I will not +fav something in your gallery just because you did so in mine. I know it sounds cold, but the +fav section is reserved for images that I truly enjoy, and not just things faved out of obligation.

3. Mutual favs, part 2. If I +fav something in your gallery, I do not expect a +fav or a comment in return. I like your work, end of story. :)

4. Forgetfulness. If I state in a comment that I will +fav your work, but I do not, drop me a note with a gentle prod. I probably got sidetracked and forgot.

*The only +favs I will not send a thank you note for is on the DD "Common Dust Bunny". There were (and still are) far too many +favs on this for me to ever catch up. I apologize, and I still do appreciate this!

:bulletblue:Comments:bulletblue:
1. General. I try to comment in a constuctive fashion whenever I am inspired to do so, and especially if the artist asks for critiques. Occasionally lack of food or sleep makes me write comments that are not entirely helpful. I apologize for this. I will never intentionally insult an artist or thier artwork, unless they are a close friend and it is in jest.

2. Pity comments. The "I commented on your artwork, now go to my gallery and comment on mine!" note in your signature doesn't work. Representing your art style in your icon and/or providing thoughtful comments does.

3. +favs and comments. I try not to +fav a piece without commenting on it unless I have either run out of time or there are already a massive amount of comments on the piece which all seem to follow my train of thought.

4. Replies. I will reply to any comment that seems to need an answer, especially ones with questions in them (duh). I don't usually respond to comments that consist of "cute" or "cool", with no further input. I appreciate them, but I would appreciate constructive criticism more.

:bulletblue:Devwatches:bulletblue:
1. General. If I like your work and/or you are a good friend of mine, you are probably already on my devwatch list. If not, I will find you and add you.

2. Mutual watches. If you watch me, I'm flattered. But I don't have time to sift through a huge pile of new submissions each day, so I may not devwatch you back. This is not meant to insult you in any way.

3. Forgetfulness. If I state in a comment on a piece or on your main page that I will devwatch you, then fail to do so, send me a note with a gentle reminder. I may have gotten sidetracked and forgotten.

:bulletblue:Miscellaneous:bulletblue:
1. Advice. I am not as scary and cold as this post makes me look. If you've got questions you think I can answer, ask! Sending a note is the best way to get ahold of me.

2. Print requests. Is there something you'd like to see a print of, or on a coffee mug, or whatever? Drop me a note, and I'll try to make it happen. (This may be very slow until I get Painter.)

3. Other requests. I am generally fairly open to art trades and comissions, along with the occasional gift art. If you want it, don't be shy, ask. But politely, please. Gift art tends to be totally random and out of the blue, but crops up more often around Christmas and birthday times (unless I don't know your birth date. Then I reserve the right to move it to whenever is convenient).

4. Other. If I forgot something in this list, or any part is unclear, let me know and I'll try to help.

Requests and trades may be arranged under special cicumstances. In the event of a request or trade, no physical artwork is sent to the recipient (electronic copy only), and the recipient does not retain any reprint rights.

Commission Pricing Policy
All prices are in U.S. dollars, shipping and handling are extra, and will be declared clearly ASAP after a commission order has been placed.

Except on Out-of-Stock Jar Creatures, prices are somewhat negotiable, and the artist strives to have her pieces remain affordable.

Special Request Jar Creatures:
-Will be priced according to cost of materials needed, degree of difficulty, level of detail, and housing. Price starts at $15, and includes a standard jar, 2-3" creature with basic details, and tag. The Ivory Mind Body is a good example of a basic creature.

-Will be priced according to level of difficulty, and materials used.

-Additional Characters: +$8
-Inks: +$3
-Colors: +$10

Other Sculptures:
-Will be priced according to size, difficulty, and cost of materials.

Plush Creatures:

The artist retains all rights to creature designs and may use them again at a later date. Any commissioned pieces that are not paid for after completion may be resold.

All original pieces come with an informational tag signed by the artist at no extra charge.

To begin the commision process, please send me a note or e-mail with your:

Name
E-mail
Country
What you are interested in (Jar Critter, Painting (traditional or digital), sketch, sculpture or other)
Details on what you want

If you are requesting a sketch or painting of a specific character (preferably of your own), please provide a link to a full-body image of the character. The more details in the image (turnarounds, back views, etc), the better. Also include a quick bio or writeup of the character's personality, so I can avoid accicentally drawing them out of character.

Current Projects

Journal Entry: Tue Sep 27, 2005, 8:04 AM
My current projects are:

-Photographing paintings for printing
-Gulp maquette (pictures coming soon!)
-Christmas requests
-Top-Secret Illustration (final will be linked to when the project is done)

I am currently making a maquette of a Gulp. As refrences for the process, I'm using 's tutorial and this thread ([link]) from Conceptart.org. (The tutorial is only 2 or 3 pages of the thread, spread out between comments. The guy basically wrote the tutorial in real time.)

WARNING!: If you are not currently watching my scraps gallery, you just missed the first images of the Gulp maquette! Go check them out!

For you Halo fans, take note that UNSCDF has requested that I do a Christmas image for his site. Stay tuned!
